Hello!!

0527180643cWelcome!Β  My name is Nicki Halin. I am a wife and mother of four. We have three dogs and three cats. I love my regular office job, where I get to help people improve their lives learning a trade. In my “spare time” I teach group fitness classes, both INSANITY Live and TurboKick Live.

Another big part of my life is running. I have run two marathons, a couple half marathons plus a few 5k and 10k’s. Running started with a New Year Resolution in 2016 to lose weight and run a 5k. So I began a Couch to 5k program in January of 2016. After the 5k, I kept going and ran a 10k race for the 4th of July and a half marathon that fall. My first marathon was June 2017 and second in April 2018.

Throughout my life, my weight has gone up and down, even though I have always been pretty active. Before the Couch to 5k plan, I had never ran. I was embarrassed to tell people that I was trying to run and afraid that I wouldn’t ever be able to run 3.1 miles. On the treadmill at the gym I was self-conscious that people behind me thought I was too fat, was making too much noise with my steps (because I was too fat), and had no business trying to run. I thought they would laugh or pity me when if I started to walk after running. Once I could run a mile, all those fears went away. I have gained so much confidence and self-worth from running. I leave a run feeling accomplished. I tell you this so you can know that I have been there. I have highs and lows. I know how it is to feel like you are too fat to go to the gym. I know how it feels to not have the ‘right’ gym clothes. I know how it feels to think the salespeople are judging you when you buy gym clothes. I know how it feels to try really hard and not see any difference on the scale.

Thanks for joining me here on my site. My hope is that I can offer help and support to others in their fitness journey. This is a journey. Once we think we have arrived, we have to keep going.

Fitness is a whole body experience. We have to nourish the mind, body and soul. That means physical exercise. Our bodies were meant to perform. This means good food choices. For the mind and soul, we need to keep learning and loving. Let’s go on this journey together.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. ~Isaiah 40:31
